Nestled where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains, Denver is an ideal city to visit for those who love the outdoors, but want to enjoy urban amenities as well. Its best enjoyed with a car, because much of the appeal of a visit is driving up to the mountains to enjoy skiing, hiking, rafting, kayaking, snowboarding, and the like. In town, enjoy good restaurants, sports and sports bars, and museums. The Denver Art Museum is a highlight, with excellent western art and Native American galleries. Visit the State Capitol building and note the step that indicates you're a mile above sea-level, lending the city it's "Mile High City" nickname.
