The cultural diversity of Mauritius is increased at the Marché Central (Central Market) by the perplexing diversity of exotic goods. Food is sold in three out of four halls. Textiles, leather goods, arts and crafts and souvenirs are offered in the fourth hall.
The covered market in fruit and vegetables provides a good guide to the official prices of fruit and vegetables to find out, as most products are marked. The offerings on the souvenir market should be treated with caution. This applies to clothing, leather goods, souvenirs but also for spices. Tourists will love it here "saffron" sold, but which is not true saffron (you do not exist in Mauritius), but Cucuma. Spices are best, and often buy for a fraction of the supermarkets.
