In the last few decades, the beach was notorious for the prostitutes and drug addicts that roamed there, but today it is enjoying a resurgence, largely driven by the surge in real estate prices. At any rate, it is a favorite haunt of locals and backpackers. Watch for the Sunday crafts market on the Upper Esplanade.

St. Kilda really is beautiful! You just should avoid it at night especially as girls alone. I had my hostel in the area ... net in the evening to recommend Sun The roads are not very safe for ... But definitely a brilliant quarter with super restaurants and amusement park from Melbourne!
