Allende died in the presidential palace

Coming from Plaza de Armas, you walk through Paseo Ahumada and Agustinas to reach a beautifully restored presidential place which was built as a coin in 1805. The palace was therefore called Moneda and was the scene of dramatic events at the military coup of 1973.
