Trzebnica (German: Trebnitz) is a city near Wrocław in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, capital of Trzebnica County.
In 1202, Henry I the Bearded founded a Cistercian convent in Trebnitz (Trzebnica) on the request of his wife, the future Saint Hedwig of Andechs (canonized in 1267). After Henry died in 1238 and was buried in the church, Hedwig moved to the Cistercian convent which by now was led by her daughter. She died in October 1243 and was buried there also, while relics of her are preserved at Andechs Abbey in Bavaria. (...)
