Pantanal means "marsh." A sponge catches bodies of water from the central highland and evenly spreads it southward into the Rio Paraguay. The Pantanal is a fresh water biotope full of amphibious life. The Pantanal is well worth seeing in the rainy and in the dry season (June-October).
