The once sacred Island of the Mayan moon goddess is now a popular destination for daytrippers

Isla Mujeres (Women’s Island), about 8km/5mi long and up to 2km/1.2mi wide, lies off the shore of the Yucatán peninsula in the Caribbean Sea across the water from Cancún. It boasts large coconut palm groves and beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear lagoons and coral reefs teeming with fish.
