Bathing resort (pop. 65,000) at the tip of the peninsula of the same name with a large offering of hotels, restaurants, leisure facilities and many beaches. Çeşme, meaning "fountain" or "spring" in Turkish, is a nice and pleasant vacation destination. It was always popular as a weekend escape for residents of Izmir, but in recent years it established a reputation as party town. Some people even claim that it has passed Bodrum, for many years the Turkish synonym for nightlife. If you are not in the party mood: Enjoy dinner in one of the authentic little fish restaurants or just relax on one of the beautiful beaches.
