Steep and rocky shores bordering green and lush countryside
The Black Sea region occupies the northern part of Turkey. Due to rainfall all year long the landscape and climate differs significantly from the rest of the country. Lush and green hills which enable rich agriculture and rocky shores cut by wild rivers that cascade into the chilly sea form the face of this region. Mountains limit access from inland to the sea to a few valleys. Culturally, this part of the country is home to diverse ethnic groups with own customs, dialect and appearance which can be found nowhere else in Turkey. The Black Sea region is a popular travel spot especially among locals and former Soviet republics.
