Wonderful sandy beaches and good fish taverns
The middle finger of Chalkidike is hillier, greener and scenically even more beautiful than the Kassándra peninsula. There are many long sandy beaches but hardly any villages at the north and east coast of the peninsula between Ormós Panagías and Kalamítsi while the west coast is partly developed for mass tourism with the environmental disfiguring Pórto Cárras and Néos Marmarás. Pórto Koufó, a little settlement at a bay almost completely protected by the sea, is particularly beautiful. Its fish taverns are excellent, specially O Psarás right at the lakeside road.
