Saint Isaac's Cathedral

Saint Isaac's Cathedral

by Marco Polo

The third-largest sacral domed structure in the world

When Iscaac’s Cathedral was finished in 1858 after a construction period of 40 years, the town had a third landmark next to the Peter-Paul Fortress and the Admirals. It is one of the most beautiful buildings of the 19th century. It is the third-largest dome-shaped building of the world apart from the St. Peter’s Dome in Rome and St. Paul Cathedral in London. When the weather is nice, it’s worth the climb up to the golden dome of the cathedral. You’ll be rewarded with a fantastic panorama.
