Symbol for the power of the Orthodox Church throughout the centuries in Bulgaria
In the middle of a lush deciduous forest there is a high battlement. The main church Sveta Bogorodica (Holy Mother of God) is the centerpiece and crown of the art treasures. It’s a combination of an old basilica with three naves and an Italian dome church. The Rila Restaurant, which serves Bulgarian dishes, is right next to the monastery.
