A fertility shrine full of phalluses
Tucked from view in a private corner of the Nai Lert Park Hotel, it's worth visiting the Nai Lert Shrine - also known as the Tubtim Shrine - if only because you'll probably never see anything else quite like it. Women hoping to become pregnant make a pilgrimage here to curry favor from Tubtim, a water spirit who resides in the nearby canal - once they become pregnant, they come back and leave a phallic offering. Something has obviously gone right because there are hundreds of colorful wooden phalluses in all shapes and sizes mingling with incense sticks and fragrant blossoms. Though you might be tempted to laugh and point, remember that this is a shrine that Thais take seriously - be respectful.
