Panjiayuan Market -- a weekend flea market and an El Dorado for collectors
Beijing’s Curio City, a complex that resembles a department store with a huge atrium, is in a poor location, but it is still the place to go if you want real antiques --- and know what you are doing. Don’t be put off by the ground floor, where jewelry and brand new stuff is for sale, because the three floors above it have over a hundred private dealers. They are not cheap -- this is a place for serious shoppers.
