Beijing's oldest and largest mosque
Beijing's oldest Islamic house of worship was founded in 996 during the Liao Dynasty, and has been enlarged and renovated several times throughout its long history. The buildings were designed in the Chinese style according to local law, but the interiors feature Arabic calligraphy and other Islamic details. The colorful area outside is teeming with food vendors.
