Treasures over 2,100 years old from the royal graves of Mawangdui
The graves at Mawangdui, dating from between 186 and 160 BC near Changsha, yielded over 3,000 splendidly preserved objects, among them the oldest string instrument in China, silk, lacquerware, toys, and weapons. The pride of this culturally valuable collection, well worth a visit, are a casket painted as a mythological figure and the perfectly preserved body of Xin Zhui, wife of the Marquis of Dai.
