The song and drama society "Estonia" was founded in 1865. This was the beginning event of current-day Estonian National Opera Theater (Rahvusooper Estonia). The opeara also known as Estonia Theatre for the building it occupies in downtown Tallinn. The opera celebrated its 100th anniversary 2006. The celebration was carried out in a newly renovated opera house. It built as a national effort with the leadership of "Estonia" society 1913 and was opened to the public on August 24th.
The opera house itself was bombed down by Soviet air raid at 9th of March, 1944. It was reopened after the war at 1947.
The theater has had several names throughout its existence. The latest one is "Estonian National Opera", given at year 1998. (...)
