This is the southernmost of a chain of tiny islands between the Zapata peninsula and the Isla de la Juventud: little Cayo Largo. Many consider it to be the prettiest spot in all Cuba, because the Caribbean is so ever-present here, and the beach is a strip of white sand as long as the island. Those interested in sunbathing most of all should head for Playa Sirena. You can also take a boat to Cayo Avalos, with its palm-lined beaches, to Cayo Iguana for the lizards, to Cayo Rico for great snorkeling, or to the seabird colonies on Cayo Pájaro. Sol Cayo Largo is the most luxurious hotel on the island. At the edge of the hotel area, find Hotel Villa Lindamar, with its 53 palm-thatched cabañas on the beach.
