Cementerio Colón

The Colón cemetery should be visited to see the wealth of funerary sculpture, including Carrara Marbles; Cubans visit the sculpture of Amelia La Milagrosa (Amelia Goire) at Calle 3 entre F y G and pray for miracles. Constructed in 1871, the 56-ha city of the dead is the second largest cemetery in the world. It was designed by the Spanish architect, Calixto de Lloira y Cardosa, who was also the first person to be buried there. The Chinese cemetery is at Avenida 26 y 31.
