The provincial capital of La Plata is only about 30 miles from Buenos Aires. A modern town with architectonical jewels was built in 1882. The most beautiful walk through the town starts at Plaza Moreno with a cathedral with a neo-Gothic piece from 1885. Museo de Ciencias is definitely worth a visit, especially because of its unique paleontological collection of fossil mammals.
