A beautiful monastic town on Lake Vättern.
Old wooden houses and narrow streets characterise this medieval little town on Lake Vättern. Thanks to the famous Birgitta monastery dating from the 14th century, it was for a long time the cultural centre of the country. In the monastery museum everything revolves around saintly life and work. You will find a cheap place to stay in the Vita Villan building at the Vadstena monastery hotel.
