Eslöv is a city in Scania and the seat of Eslöv Municipality, Skåne County in southern Sweden. It has a population of 16,551 (2005).
Today Eslöv largely serves as a suburb of Malmö and Lund.
The city of Eslöv received its privileges in 1911 after incorporating the parish of Västra Sallerup. Eslöv had been a town by its own since 1875. Today the city has a growing population of about 16 800 (2006). Eslöv was but a small village until the Southern Railline (Södra Stambanan) between Stockholm and Malmö was run through in the mid-1800s. Trade flourished around the new station and eventually it also attracted industrial settlings. Among the city's companies are Procordia Food AB (former Felix AB).
In the city, Sweden's highest wooden house, Lagerhuset is located. In 2007 a large scale renovation of the building will take place and it will later be possible to rent apartments in it. The building was first built as a storage magazine for cereal during World War I.
The medicine Salubrin was invented in Eslöv. Several other big companies have also got their main offices in the town. (...) more....
