This town, built in the archipelagos, is spread over 30 islands. It was created by Karl XI in 1680 as a base for his fleet. Part of the military complex is a UN heritage site. The Maritime Museum, whose collection was started in 1752, is worth a look. The old town is predominantly Baroque.
