The Ria de Aveiro reaches the centre via several canals, lending the town a picturesque aspect. One of Portugal's most beautiful Gothic way crosses stands in front of the cathedral, consecrated in 1446. Opposite, in the former monastery, the Museu de Aveiro's exhibits include Portuguese Baroque art.

Gorgeous little beach town with a great boardwalk, cute pastel striped houses and a couple decent restaurants. Reminded me of Cape Cod and the many summers spent there. Visited in August, the water is pretty cold and you'll likely need some form of wind barrier.
