The town of (Leavdnja in Davvisápmi, Lemmijoki in Finnish/Kven) is the largest settlement and administrative centre of the municipality Porsanger in the county of Finnmark in Norway. The population was 2,160 in 2004.
Lakselv Airport, Banak is located in Lakselv, with connections to Tromsø and Kirkenes operated by Widerøe, as well as charter flights in the summer season.
There is excellent salmon fishing throughout the summer months, and golf is also a popular past time.
Nightlift is limited, but there are two hotels with bars and restaurants. They are Aastedet, Bar Boerson Same Same and Alibiet.
There are a number of shops and supermarkets to cater for the surrounding settlements.
