A lively square by the Waag.
The Nieuwmarkt, a square with numerous terraces and music cafés extends around the Old Weighing House in the red light district. Because of the square's size, one can still catch the last rays of the sun here on summer evenings, just before sunset.

Die gemütlichsten Cafés/Bars rund um den Nieuwmarkt sind meiner Erfahrung nach das "Café de Cuba" und das "'t Loosje" mit entspanntem Publikum und akzeptablen Preisen (kl. Bier 2€).
This is a main point of reference in the central part of town, near the red light district and the coffee shops. Lots of little cafes, too.
