Corsica's culture is as strong as its wine
Corsica is a mountainous island that allows a traveler to stray off the beaten path a little bit. It is technically a region of France, but any Corsican boasts of their heritage. A fishing culture that dates back thousands of years, Corsica is known for it's tough fishing villages that have been softened by resorts and tourism. The seafood is of course, excellent, and other native dishes like cured meats and cheeses are definitely European, but with an island wildness that is incomparable. If you go inland a bit, you'll find some great hikes. Here, the towns are less influenced by outsiders and you'll experience a different bit of the culture.
Summer is a great time to spend along the coasts, but fall will bring out all the colors of the trees and vineyards. Once you develop your palate, nothing but Corsican wine will satisfy it.
