Idyll and awakening east of the Great Belt - Metropolis on the move: Seeland and Copenhagen are on the way to become a metropolis while Møn, Lolland and Falster stay relaxed.
About 2.4 million people live on Seeland, that’s about 44 percent of all Danes. Jütland has 2.6 million inhabitants but on an area that’s about three times the size. Once you’ve left the capital in its outskirts, Seeland turns into the true Denmark: rural, calm, clear. This applies to the North with the best beaches and to the South. Seeland is also the island of the rich and powerful, the kings and ship-owners, the rich and newly-rich. A cruise from Copenhagen to Helsingør on the Strandvejen opens everybodys eyes: who wants to know who much beauty can be created with money won’t be able to stop wondering. Lolland, Falster, Møn and Südseeland on the other hand seem a bit abandoned: between vast fields, long beaches and chalk life proceeds at a much slower pace than in the capital. The islands use this fact to their advantage: in cooperation with Møn and Südseeland and German partners they established the German-Danish holiday cooperation Kinderland Ostsee (http://www.gumda.com). It’s a perfect place for families with flat beaches and many attractions..
