Green coast and good wines: a port empire.
The flourishing far north is characterized by the two big rivers of Portugal: Douro and Minho. A feast for the eyes with a flip side! After all, it’s an area with one of the highest rainfalls in Portugal and only might get a break in the summer. The flourishing town cultures of Braga and Porto are a contrast to the rural agricultural country with its cabbage and corn fields. Tourists also come for the Atlantic beaches, the vinho verde and the world famous port which is grown in Vila Nova de Gaia.
