Finnish sedulity and a relaxing holiday. Busy towns with export industry as well as the solitude of fishing villages or bathing resorts – the coast has both.
The Finns are not content with living on the Northern border of Europe: everything is done not to fall behind the rest of Europe in the coastal towns, with great success. Wood and paper are export goods but also modern technology. Even industrial have a Finish character: nothing seems hectic and even industrial buildings are artful, towns alternate with contemplative villages. The South, especially the Southwest of the region, is symbolized by a very structured coast with countless islands. Many of these islands can be reached over bridges. Further North, at the Gulf of Bothnia, the population gets more and more sparse and there are vast swathes of land with beautiful sandy beaches (the most beautiful one isin Yyteri at Pori), but also picturesque cliffs, a paradise for aquatic athletes, especially sailors and sufers.
