The largest and most elaborate Baroque palace of the city was built in 1648 for Duke Bartolomeo Arese according to designs by Francesco Maria Richini; it was the former centre of fashionable Milan. Today, the palazzo profanely serves as quarters for the railway administration, only the courtyards may be viewed.
