Together with its continuation, the Piazza della Libertà Faenza, the Piazza del Popolo is one of Italy's longest squares, lined with magnificent palaces. Apart from several notable churches, one should also visit the International Museum of Ceramics, housed in a former monastery.

If Rome is a giant open-air museum, then Milan is a huge open-air catwalk. Here it's not pleasure that is indulged, as elsewhere in Italy...
