Bologna

Bologna is the capital of Emilia-Romagna Province which is known for its amazing hard pecorino and parmesean cheeses, as well as a more meat-centric diet than cities to her south. Hence, 'bolognese' sauce, which is synonymous in other parts of the world as 'meat sauce.'
The old center of the city, where the train station is, is shaped like the sun. There is a round center piazza that is surrounded by a loggia with openings like the sun's rays. There are many surprises like this in Bologna...you have to stay awhile to find them all.
