Edinburgh's star attraction for kids
Opened in 1913, Edinburgh Zoo is famous for being the first zoo in the world to breed penguins in captivity; the daily penguin parade is a must-see, but you can also catch sea lion training and a hilltop safari. The zoo also houses the one polar bear and two koalas in the entire United Kingdom, as well as several endangered pygmy hippos. Future expansion is set to include biomes such as grasslands, wetlands, woodlands, and rainforests, a more interactive experience where visitors will be immersed in the habitats and animals will be housed together.
