Glasgow's historic heart
Named for King George III, George Square is the civic and historic center of Glasgow and a great place to linger all year-round, whether you are people-watching in the sun, celebrating football victories, enjoying the lovely Christmas decorations, or ringing in the New Year. Famous Scots represented by statues in the square include author Walter Scott, poet Robert Burns, and inventor James Watt. The east side of the square is flanked by the Glasgow City Chambers, a gorgeous building dating back to 1888.
