Dalton-in-Furness is a small town of approximately 11,000 people outside Barrow-in-Furness, in Cumbria, England. Historically, it was the capital of the Furness peninsula. In recent times it has become more akin to a suburb of Barrow. It remains a part of the ancient County Palatine of Lancashire, despite no longer receiving its governance from Lancashire County Council.
The town is associated with a number of famous artists. It was the home of George Romney in the 1700s, birthplace of award-winning artist Richard T. Slone and the town in which Turner Prize winner Keith Tyson attended school. (...)
