Thanks to the sulphur springs, Moffat was once a popular spa town. The bronze ram on the Colvin Fountain is a reference to sheep breeding and the wealth obtained from wool and textiles. At Ladyknowe Woollen Mill there is a rich selection of woollen products from the Southern Uplands.
