Camden Market

London's most popular open-air market is one of the most popular attractions in the city, but the word "market" does not really describe it. The phenomenon of Camden consists of a huge collection of different street markets that extend in and around Camden High Street. Along the colorful rows of houses, all vintage shopping dreams come true: hip fashion, flea markets, cheap T-shirts, Doc Martens, hippie junk, and original accessories as far as the eye can see. It's not just the offerings that make Camden Market, it's also the alternative flair of North London -- home of punks, goths, and indie rockers. No wonder that many Londoners like to come here to meet for lunch or coffee.

  • This is a good place to pick up cheap, Chinese-made fashion items (especially punkier stuff). There are also a lot of piercing studios in the shops, as well as a decent selection of shoe stores. The section of the market near the canal has a lot of pretty decor items imported from SE Asia, as well as a small international food court.

Yes, it is full. Yes, it's touristy. Yes, it is sometimes expensive. But yes, it's great! There are still hidden treasures to be found!

Trash, kitsch and good mood. Street markets belong to London as the typical rainy weather. Between Asian bistros and antique dealers you will find something useful to take home.
