The Romans and Mary Queen of Scots were already familiar with Buxton's hot springs. As such, the city museum has an exciting history to tell. The highlight of the Pavilion Gardens, alongside the Opera House built in 1905, is the "Crescent" an 18th century semi-circular parade of gritstone houses.
