The Castillo Gibralfaro

The Castillo Gibralfaro (daily 0900-1900) €1.95 (€3.20 joint-entry price with Alcazaba), literally ‘Lighthouse Hill’, is a ruined Moorish castle built by Yusef I of Granada in the early 14th century. It is linked to the Alcazaba below by parallel walls. A path leads up to it from the right side of the Alcazaba, but this is a stiff walk and in the summer heat you might prefer to approach it by the road that leads from the city up towards the parador via Calle Mundo Nuevo (fifth road past Roman Theatre) and Calle Victoria. Alternatively, take the No 35 bus from Paseo del Parque.
