An imposing setting for contemporary art featuring Picasso's "Guernica".
The Reina Sofía houses one of the most important collections of contemporary, predominantly Spanish, art from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. Its crowning glory is Picasso's "Guernica", which the artist painted for the Paris World's Fair in 1937.
Huge museum, almost a bit to much for one visit. Pick something you like on the orientation map and stick with this and a visit to Picasso's Guernica.
The former hospital was complemented by designs by Ian Ritchie and Jean Nouvel, and in addition to artwork and an extensive art library.
The museum is not only inside but also outside worth several looks. Who is on modern, is better off here than in the Prado.
