The blindingly white basilica high above the city on Montmartre hill seems almost unreal. The building was erected as a national memorial after France's defeat at the hands of Germany during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.

The biggest bell in France (around 18 tones heavy) is located in the bell tower of the Sacre Care Basilica, which is located in the top of the hill of Montmartre (ButteMontmartre) on the North side of Paris and 129 meters over the Seine River.
One of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. Already the way up there is very charming with its narrow streets. Here you also find many souvenir shops.
