The Norman capital lives from its contrasts: half-timbering and churches in the centre and towering harbour cranes alongside pedestrian post-War buildings on the banks of the Seine. One should start a round trip of the city at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame and take a southern route through Rue Saint Romain and the Church of St Maclou.
