Kristinestad

Kristinestad (in Swedish), Kristiinankaupunki (in Finnish) is a municipality in Finland. It is located in the western part of Finland on th shore of the Bothnian Sea. The population is 7,836 (as 2003) and bilingual with a majority speaking Swedish (57%) and the minority Finnish (41%). The town was chartered in 1649 at Koppö island and is named for Queen Christina of Sweden. Kristinestad, often called the pearl of the Bothnian Sea is known for its old town with low wooden houses and narrow alleys. (...) more....
