Kuusamo is situated on a high plateau at Lake Kuusamojärvi, a setting which makes the town attractive to active holidaymakers all year round, whether skiers, fishers or walkers. The tourist infrastructure is excellent. In town, one can pay a visit to the local church, built in 1951.
