Niels Juel acquired the estate from the Danish King Christian IV in 1677 for his services at sea. In 1756, it was renovated in the baroque style. There are 25 rooms featuring valuable furniture, Gobelins and paintings. There is also a toy museum and a collection of ships with 60 different exhibits.
