They were the best sailors of their day. You can admire what they left behind in Roskilde - especially their fast boats.
In 1962, five Viking ships from around 1000 AD were raised in the Roskilde Fjord. They were probably sunk at the time in order to block the navigation channel. The museum presents the elegant curves of battleships, freighters and fishing boats, and explains how they were made in its in-house boatyard.
