In 1962, five Viking ships from around 1000 were raised in Roskildefjord. It is assumed that they were sunk in order to block the waterway. The museum shows the elegantly curved carcasses of the war ships, freight ships and fishing boots as well as how they were built in its own miniature shipyard.
