The Storebælt bridge is Europe's longest suspension bridge, spanning 2694 m. When it opened in 1998, Nyborg lost its importance as a ferry terminal. Nyborg Slot was built between 1200 and 1549. It was formerly the residence of the Danish kings. Denmark's first constitution was signed here in 1282.
