This pretty spot is surrounded by the Sierra de Gredos and Sierra de Béjar. Its importance as a textile town is still demonstrated by the 19th century cloth factories and weaving mills. The fortified Duke's palace with its lovely Renaissance courtyard was built long before, in the 16th century.
