The authentic Cambodian village experience you've been looking for

A lot of people leave Kratie disappointed, wondering what the big deal is. Those people probably did not stray far from Kratie town or the launching point for boats to see the Irrawaddy dolphins, because if they had, they would certainly have been mesmerized by the nearby villages. Kratie can't claim minority villages, tribal people or any of the other hot buzz words that travelers often look for in a village experience, but this is one place where you can catch a glimpse of regular, hardworking Cambodian people going about their business in a beautiful setting, totally unfazed by tourism. Sure you can see people picking rice and driving cattle herds all over SE Asia, but nowhere will it be a more heartwarming, friendly experience.
